Schoolboy

Just found out that in NY, Jonah makes the deadline for Kindergarten this year by 1 week. He is only 4 1/2, but here that is considered Kindergarten age. I would actually have to petition to have him *not* be in Kindergarten this year. This is so strange because now our kids will be nearly 3 years apart in age but there will be only one grade level in between them. We are homeschooling, so technically it doesn't matter, but I would like to keep them on track in the event that they do go to school down the line. Lucky for Jonah he is fiercely competitive and would suffer great bodily trauma or mental exhaustion to keep up with others, so I think academically he will be fine. And size-wise, he would have towered over everyone so drastically if we waited a year that this probably makes more sense anyways. Now if we could just get him to wipe his own tush and dress himself and let go of the theory that hitting or yelling is the best way to get what you want. Do they teach those things in Kindergarten? Along with patience? Empathy? The ability to wait for 30 seconds every once in a while?
Sigh...I guess you can't have it all.
