The House

We sold our house. Not a done deal yet, but it looks good.
Due to close in 2 1/2 weeks if all goes well.

We kind of have mixed feelings about it--it seems so final, to not have a house in the NW any longer. The kids sometimes miss the house, the 'hood, all the kids that lived so close and the fact that they could walk by themselves to the park just two doors away. In some ways it was never a great fit for us--it was very suburban and we always felt disgruntled about the whole scene.
But on the other hand, it was a comfortable, spacious, clean and beautiful place to live, especially compared to what we have now.
The luxury of all those bedrooms!
The spotless wood floors!
The master bath as big as our current living room!
Everything brand new and in perfect working order!
The 3-car tandem garage filled with our 1 car and oodles of outdoor gear!

We loved our backyard with tall bamboo and raised garden beds and an herb garden along the back wall on top of the rockery. We loved the carpeted, dog-free upstairs with bright window light, open floorplan and washer and dryer that didn't require either quarters or trekking to the basement.

Most of these photos were taken just after we moved out, it really wasn't always this empty and spare. Definitely, it feels like a chapter is over and that is always bittersweet. Especially when you are getting ready to have a baby and things like going to the dentist can seem bittersweet.

So Goodbye House. Thank you for serving us well, and may you do the same for your next inhabitants.
