We had our first snow on Sunday. It was only a few inches and it was gone by the next morning, but still...the kids were beside themselves, and Banchi acted like a puppy again. Snow makes him prance and act all cute. Maybe he got enough energy out that he'll stop eating crayons and dragging things out of the recycling bag.
We took the train to NJ to go to our little friend Zoey's 8th birthday (skating) party. Both kids were a bit hesitant at first, it has been a while since they went roller skating, but by the end of it they were digging it. I'm happy about that because we just bought them rather expensive ice skates and are planning to start going once a week or so. Ice skating just seems to be the thing around here among their group of friends.
Brett is just about recovered from his all-nighter last week and excessive number of working hours. He actually had a 3 day weekend, which was great, and he was able to take the kids to a show on Friday and spend some time getting his mental faculties back together again. Those all nighters, they aren't so bad when you're a college kid, but they get a lot harder when you get older!
I am not sure why I haven't mentioned this sooner. I guess it took me a while to come around to acceptance. Most of you know already, but my important work at the moment is growing Little Sposito Baby #3. I am 14 weeks pregnant with a new little person, set to make his or her debut somewhere around June 1. The pregnancy fairy has been pretty kind to me this time around. I felt pretty much really great for the first two months, the past month was not so good, but am already feeling better. The worst was the motion sickness on the subways...second worst is that really messed up relationship many 1st trimester women feel with food. You feel nauseous so you can't eat, but it is the only thing that makes you feel better. Healthy things don't necessarily sound good, and when you want something, you feel like you would go to great lengths to get it. And then there is the tiredness--for the past month you couldn't have paid me to stay up past 9PM and if I ever sat myself down, or worse, laid down, I would be completely out within 5 minutes. Pregnancy Brain is setting in too. If I am not saying something, chances are, there is pretty much nothing going on. Like as in nobody is home at all, the arms are down, the lights are flashing, but no train is coming. If I ever say I am going to do something, I better write it down, because otherwise it's as if I never had that thought. So strange. Like today--I was supposed to lead Jonah's book club. This involves an hour of keeping up to ten 4 and 5 year olds busy in the library, with books to read, crafts to do, games, activities and beginning reading activities. Not only did I forget I was leading it, I completely forgot it was today at all. Only found out in the nick of time from reading an unrelated email from another friend who said "see you at book club". Luckily my stash of supplies is vast, so with Maya's help we were able to throw together a program that turned out to be pretty sweet, if I do say so myself. But it is scary, that whole forgetting thing.
Just for fun, check this out:
