Beach Town

We loved the plants here. Big, leafy things that looked straight out of Jurassic Park or something. The flowers on some of them are unbelievable. I feel guilty letting Banchi pee on the landscaping, they seem like works of art. But then again, it doesn't look like any of the plants are doing anything but thriving, dog pee or not.
When it rains here, it really rains. This is the flooded parking lot of our La Quinta after one of the showers that came along with Noel. Funny thing, even though it rained a lot for a week, it was still hot and humid. You could just wait for the rain to stop then go jump in the pool for an hour and be perfectly comfortable.
The first few days we were here we stayed in an extended stay hotel just down the street from where Brett is working. The world's biggest international boat show was here though, and the place was crazy for a week--price of hotel rooms doubled and no vacancies for a year in advance. So we moved a few miles away to another hotel for the week. That hotel wasn't as nice, but it had a beautiful pool, which the kids were in every single day.
Tropical Storm (Hurricane) Noel passed through a week or so ago and when it rains here it really rains. Like the parking lot would be flooded. The storm did some interesting things to the beach. Huge waves, large undertows and the main drag along the beach was flooded. There were still crazies out surfing and kiteboarding even through the roughest of seas. We like it the way it normally is--gentle waves, shallow entry into the water, warm and only slightly breezy with lots of shells.
