It is Friday. Brett has worked two weeks at his new job. Things on the job front are going well. He likes it and is excited about his work there. As for the kids and I, we have had some adventures this week, now that we are all feeling better.
First we went to the Children's Museum of Manhattan. It was OK, but mostly intended for younger kids. It cost me $19 to park for the two hours we were in the museum. Lunch was great that day, we went to a Jewish deli around the corner for yummy hot dogs and chicken matzo soup. Yum yum.
Yesterday, we parked on the north side of Central Park after some apartment hunting, played at the playground at Morningside Park then took the subway to the American Museum of Natural History, located in the middle of Central Park. It was great. We saw a planetarium show and dinosaur exhibits and the kids really liked the Discovery space, which is a kids play area.
The subway was fun and easy, and to be honest I can't wait to get rid of the car and use the subway as our primary mode of transporation. Having the car here is a pain, but a fairly necessary one if you are commuting from NJ to NY. We have already gotten one parking ticket (10 minutes past our meter time). Frequently you can't find a parking place or you have to pay a ton of money. Driving here is actually pretty fun--you just have to turn on your aggressive cold-hearted face and go for it. It is exciting and eventful and if you ever space out you will get honked at for sure. I am getting a little tired of the Lincoln Tunnel--we go through it pretty much every day to get to Manhattan and there is something so weird about being underneath a river with a million other cars, all stuck in traffic together.

We love that you have a blog and will be reading it often. We're glad to hear that you're moved in and starting to become comfortable in the big city. I'm sure it's full of a lot of changes, but you are well versed in traveling and I'm sure will have the hang of it all in no time.

Just recieved your blog and read about all your posted happenings since you left Oregon. Sounds like you have scouted around and seen a lot in your new surroundings already. Hope all are healthy now too. You are truly experiencing some drastic changes compared to life in Oregon. You will have it well in hand in due time, I am sure. We want the very best for you as you make the stretch to adapt in the concrete jungle.
