Pregnant in New York City

35 weeks. There really is a baby in there. I have gained about 20 pounds or so, on track to the 23 I gained with each of my other two. I am still feeling great. There is something about this lifestyle--2 kids, busy, walking a lot, I don't know what it is, maybe not having time to think much about (read: dwell on or obsess about) the pregnancy, but I feel better and more energetic than I did the other two times around. Still, I can't believe in 5 weeks, give or take, that there will be another little person in our family. Flipper has settled, head down, and the gymnastics seem to have slowed due to lack of space. We have a drawer full of newborn clothes (sadly, mostly in green and white since gender neutral doesn't offer up a whole lot of options) and even bought a box of newborn diapers. Brett probably has one more week-long trip ahead of him and then will plan to stay in the city until after the little one arrives. I now get offered a seat every time I board a subway, even when it is packed. Third trimester has it's benefits. Very grateful for elevators. The stairs are starting to really kick my ass.
We are so lucky to have one of each already...but still my mind is just spinning with a burning desire to know if this baby is a boy or a girl. My dreams say girl, but everything else points to boy. I know, we don't have long to wait, but it is especially hard this time to be patient. So eager for that cozy familiar weight of a newborn...with those little grunts and baby smell and tiny little clothes.
