Dead Camera

So I was really wanting to post the picture of the kids at the Yankees game, but the camera is officially dead. And getting a new one is on the very long list of things that need to be done...Sigh. Where do the days go? I swear they fly by. Life has been good and busy around here. The game was fun, except Jonah wouldn't say so--too much sitting and not enough comprehension about what was going on. Unfortunately this meant that one or the other of us was on full time toddler management instead of enjoying the company of Brett's co-workers, who seem to be a fun and interesting bunch of people. Have to say I felt a little misty eyed at the singing of the Star Spangled Banner...somehow hearing it in New York feels different than ever before. We lucked out and the rain showers came on either end of the game but not during.
Also last week the kids and I went to Six Flags, NJ. We had free tickets from a summer reading program they completed. The big draw for our little Wiggles fans was a newly completed Wiggles World area, complete with Wiggles shows and several rides. While the kids really enjoyed their day, they sort of discovered that they have outgrown the Wiggles. They were bored by the show, because "Mom, that isn't the REAL Wiggles!" Funny, they are somewhere in between the toddler-ish rides and the enormous roller coasters that this particular park is famous for. They especially liked the ferris wheel, a gigantic play structure, the big swings and the Sponge Bob 3D ride/movie.
I had a Birthing From Within get together on Friday night, and that was quite nice, to meet some of the other Mentors from the area. Still on the fence about where to go with that project right now, but when I found out how much doulas get paid here I have to say it made all the logistics (mostly childcare) seem worth the while. In any case it was fun to have dinner and chat.
Over the weekend we finished some other projects and did some more sorting. We are very much done with not having a table and chairs to eat on. We plan to make some more furniture purchases and sell some other stuff soon to help fix all our problem areas. Brett has a work car again for a month or so, and this time he has found a garage nearby to park it in at night, so maybe it will be a little easier to use.
Brett has been working lots of hours again, but by the end of this week 5 of his reports will be sent out in their final form. Kind of strange that it is happening all in one week. He did a great job on them (I haven't seen them, but I can tell), has gotten good feedback and is excited to be diving for the next few weeks. He is working in New Jersey again, and this will be the first project he gets from start to finish. That will be a nice change of pace, I think.
Off to bed. Trying to turn over a new leaf and at least be asleep by 1 AM.
